Is Jesus the Son of God?
Here are several scriptures illustrating this facet of their relationship:
Verses where Jesus directly claims to be the Son of God
The expression "Son of God", is
an analogical term. It indicates origin, a close association, or
identification. In Christian theology it describes the relationship of
two persons of the triune God. It expresses an intimate relationship
between two persons: God the Father, and God the Son - Jesus the
Messiah. The son does not immediately mean that you have to have a physical relation ship and produce an yield; who is anybody to decide the capability of God here.
Here are several scriptures illustrating this facet of their relationship:
John 17:5 - "And now Father, glorify me in Your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began."
Here Jesus stated that He was with the Father before the world began.
Colossians 1:13-20 "For he has rescued
us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the
Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He
is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For
by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible
and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities all
things were created by him and for him. He is before all things and in
him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the
church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead so
that in everything He might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to
have all his fullness dwell in him and through him to reconcile to
himself all things whether things on earth or things in heaven, by
making peace through his blood, shed on the cross."
He gives another clean statement here.
John 14:8, 10 "Don't you know me
Phillip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who
has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, "Show us the
Father"? Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father
is in me?"
Even Muslims believe that the Quran -
their Word of God - is eternal and has been through time and that it just was revealed to Muhammad. The Quran also calls Jesus the Word of
God; hence the same laws apply. Since Muslims believe that the Quran is eternal, yet is able to
enter into the limitations of time and space, and become available in
book form, even Jesus as the Word of God, is made manifest in human
form, he is "THE" Word. Ever heard a word become flesh? Yes thats what is Jesus Christ.
A frame of reference more congenial to
the Islamic portrayal of Jesus may further help in understanding Jesus
as the Son of God. Among the many names used of Jesus in the Qur'an,
three especially can help elucidate the Christian understanding of His
Sonship:
1. 'Abdu'llah -- "Servant of God" (surah 19:30)
2. Rasulu'llah -- "Apostle (messenger) of God" (surah 4:157)
3. Kalimatu'llah --"word of God" (surah 4:171)
Nobody else in the Quran is the Word of God. Its Jesus and he is the word of God.
A 600 year precedent in the Bible further states,
Who, being in very nature God, did not
consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself
nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human
likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and
became obedient to death — even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted
him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every
name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on
earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is
Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
—Philippians 2:5-11
Verses where Jesus directly claims to be the Son of God
John 5:25 I tell you the truth, a time
is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son
of God and those who hear will live.
John 10:36 what about the one whom the
Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do
you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, `I am God's Son'?
John 11:4 When he heard this, Jesus
said, "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so
that God's Son may be glorified through it."
John 17:1 After Jesus said this, he
looked toward heaven and prayed: "Father, the time has come. Glorify
your Son, that your Son may glorify you."
Mark 14:61-62 But Jesus remained silent
and gave no answer. Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the
Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?" "I am," said Jesus. "And you will
see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and
coming on the clouds of heaven."
Verses where Jesus indirectly claims to be the Son of God (or God)
Matthew 11:27 "All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."
John 8:58-59 "I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!" At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.
Verses where Jesus allows other to call him the Son of God (or God)
Luke 3:21-22 When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."
Matthew 4:3-7 The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread." Jesus answered, "It is written: `Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. "If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written: "`He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'" Jesus answered him, "It is also written: `Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'"
John 1:49-50 Then Nathanael declared, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel." Jesus said, "You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You shall see greater things than that."
Matthew 16:15-17 "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven."
John 11:25-27 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" "Yes, Lord," she told him, "I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world."
John 20:28 Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe." Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!" Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
Verses where the narrator of a gospel calls Jesus the Son of God (or God)
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
('The Word' is Jesus, as is obvious from verse 14: 'The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us'.)
John 1:18 No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known.
John 3:16-18 (These in fact may be the
words of Jesus - the original Greek had no quote marks so it's not
always clear). For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only
Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal
life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not
condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because
he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
John 20:31 But these are written that
you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by
believing you may have life in his name.
Lets reference the Quran here...
The truth is that - exalted be the Majesty of our Lord - HE has taken unto Himself neither wife nor son, S. 72:3
Qur'an rules out that God can have a consort, wife or a child.
The Quran’s also uses "Son", "Father" and "Mother". Not meaning any human relationship. the relationships described are divine.
There are several places where the Quran makes mention of the "mother of the book" (omm al-kitab)
God doth blot out or confirm what He pleaseth: with Him is the Mother of the Book (ommu alkitabi). S. 13:39
And it is in the Mother of the Book (ommi alkitabi) with Us,- high and wise. S. 43:3-4
The Quran also mentions the mother of villages and towns:
And this is a blessed Scripture which We have revealed, confirming that which (was revealed) before it, that thou mayst warn the Mother of Villages (omma alqura) and those around her. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe herein, and they are careful of their worship. 6:92 Pickthall
And thy Lord would never destroy the towns until HE has raised in the mother-town (ommiha) thereof a Messenger, reciting unto them Our Signs; nor would WE destroy the towns unless the people thereof were wrongdoers. S. 28:59
And thus We have inspired in thee a Lecture in Arabic, that thou mayst warn the mother-town (omma alqura) and those around it, and mayst warn of a day of assembling whereof there is no doubt. A host will be in the Garden, and a host of them in the Flame. S. 42:7
Hell will be a nursing mother to him (Faommuhu hawiyatun). S. 101:9 Sher Ali
A bereft and Hungry One will be his mother, Pickthall
So we see that Sons, Mother does have its reasons not as there is a physical relationship to produce an offspring but a metaphorical to underline the closeness, integrated and inter operating nature of the being /place / object. If the Biblical son and father mean to any as physical relationship; that can be quite disheartening.

Measuring with the same yardstick and
just like in the Qur'an towns and Books then cannot have a father or
mother; they just imply the relationship. It does not actually mean the
actual.
TRINITY EXPLAINED:
As Muslims believe, there are no three God's in Christianity. Its one God almighty. Although not the complete list; have here referred certain verses from the Word of God that would help understand Trinity.
BIBLE ON GOD AS ONE:
"Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!" (Deut. 6:4)
"I am the LORD, and there is no other; Besides Me there is no God." (Isa. 45:5)
There is no God but one. (1Cor. 8:4)
BIBLE ON JESUS PART OF THE TRINITY:
And after being baptized, Jesus went up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon Him, and behold, a voice out of the heavens, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased." (Matt. 3:16-17)
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit." (Matt. 28:19)
Jesus said: "I and the Father are one." (John 10:30)
"He who has seen Me has seen the Father." (John 14:9)
"He who beholds Me beholds the One who sent Me." (John 12:45)
BIBLE ON THE HOLY SPIRIT AS PART OF THE TRINITY:
If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. (Rom. 8:9)
"Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for that which has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit." (Matt. 1:20)
And the angel answered and said to her [Mary], "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy offspring shall be called the Son of God." (Luke 1:35)
[Jesus speaking to His disciples] "And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you, and will be in you." ... "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him, and make Our abode with him." (John 14:16-17, 23)
